Having made the decision to move on from Vila Real, we drove down a fantastic road, with fantastic views to Peso da Regua, on the banks of the Duoro. At 3 euros a night including electric this was a great aire.
The day after arriving we took the train into Porto, a 2 hour journey for only 10 euros return.
First surprise was the decoration of the station, Sao Bunto.
We found our way down to the river, and the crowds all the way were massive, and walked along the quayside.
When we wanted to go back, we were apprehensive of the hill, so spying a lift, we made for it. There was a security guard a the door to the lift, but he made no effort to stop us or ask if we were authorised.
On the next day we took a boat ride , complete with a lovely meal up the river Duoro to Pinhao. The scenery was magnificent, and the passage through the Barragem da Regua lock was amazing.
