On the journey from Banteux to Montherme, we stopped at Holnon British WW1 War Cemetery so that Kaz could lay a tribute to her great-uncle, and then on to the WW1 Ablain St.-Nazaire French Military Cemetery, known as the Notre Dame de Lorette Cemetery, which is the world’s largest French military cemetery. Very moving, with the number of headstones and with 2 sections without headstones about the size of 2 tennis courts holding the remains of over 10000 soldiers. A circular wall alongside the cemetery contains thousands of names of victims of the war. Monthermé is on the river Meuse in the French Ardenne region.  We had fun getting into Monthermé by taking a very narrow street. we had a pleasant walk alongside the river, although there was not much happening.
