Our next stop was at the free aire at Oradour sur Glane. This is a village that in 1944 the Nazi SS troops murdered all of the women and children of the village by herding them into the church and setting fire to it, and murdering and burning the bodies of all the men of the village. Finally they demolished the village.

It was was a moving experience to visit the exhibition and to walk around the village which has been deliberately left as it was after the massacre.
