Le Puy en Velay is on the pilgrim’s route to Santiago de Compostela, and has some very important religious places. Firstly the cathedral which is approached up hill and is quite a climb, the streets lined with shops selling lace and other artefacts. Above the cathedral is the statue of the Madonna and Child, where you can get a fantastic view of the town and surrounding region.
